Harris Legal Search has been exclusively engaged by Weyerhaeuser to find an experienced transactional attorney to join its Timberlands, Real Estate, ENR, and Corporate Development legal team. 

This hire will join a highly supportive working environment while handling sophisticated matters for one of the largest private landowners in the world.  This is a rare opportunity for an attorney who is excited to join a world-class timberlands owner to work on complex real estate, renewable energy, and mineral transactions.

  • Provide leadership and legal support for Weyerhaeuser’s Real Estate and Corporate Development business teams in connection with all manner of real estate transactions, including timberland purchases and sales, large scale timberland acquisitions and divestitures, development projects, carbon projects, mitigation banking agreements, and other related transactions.
  • Participate on business leadership teams and advise businesses on issues that arise across a nearly 11-million-acre land base, e.g., title, access, boundaries, trespass, leasing, licensing, easements.
  • Provide legal support for Weyerhaeuser’s renewable energy business team in connection with the negotiation of wind and solar energy projects throughout the United States.
  • Support leasing and other transactions for energy, mineral, and other projects, including oil and gas, geothermal, recreation, and communication sites.
  • Assist with the growth of Weyerhaeuser’s natural climate solutions business, including carbon transactions and other conservation arrangements.


  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a transactional attorney, with first-chair experience on significant, large-scale timber or similar real estate transactions.
  • Prior work in-house preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional legal, project management, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong core values, including integrity and inclusion.
  • Adept at delivering practical advice to members of the business, including senior leadership.
  • Empathetic leadership style with ability to connect with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High degree of initiative and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships through strong interpersonal relationship skills.
