Harris Legal Search has been exclusively engaged by interactive entertainment client to recruit a privacy counsel to develop, maintain and enhance the Company’s privacy program. The successful candidate will design and implement policies, controls, best practices and other processes that maintain and improve the privacy and security of customer and employee personal information. S/he will implement program improvements and collaborate with company stakeholders (e.g. IT Information Security, Human Resources, Product Localization, etc.). This involves full life cycle management of initiatives that are foundational and essential to building and maintaining a privacy program, including incident response. The position reports to the Senior Privacy Counsel.
Manages and optimizes the Company’s privacy program, helping drive change across the organization.
Engages in a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing the Company’s privacy program, including: designing and implementing policies, controls, practices and other processes to maintain and improve the privacy and security of consumer and employee personal information.
Maintains a broad understanding of the global privacy landscape impacting the Company.
Provides strategic advice to internal business teams regarding complex privacy and security matters.
Ensures existing and new products, services and processes comply with applicable privacy requirements.
Serves as subject matter expert to analyze, negotiate and manage all aspects of privacy and security contract terms and assists with development of contractual templates, tools, policies and procedures.
Enhances various company privacy policies and proactively engages in business operations and initiatives to ensure privacy best practices are designed into new technology implementations.
Performs legal research in the areas of privacy and security, sharing relevant information with members of the legal and business teams.
Oversees response to consumer information access and deletion requests.
Facilitates and promotes employee awareness about compliance and privacy across the organization, including development and implementation of privacy training and awareness programs.
Coordinates with internal and external subject matter experts, including outside counsel.
Triages and analyzes incidents reported to privacy office to ensure appropriate response and escalation.
Routinely works with highly confidential information.
Up to 15% domestic and/or international travel.
The position requires a minimum of five years as a practicing attorney with three years’ experience in privacy law. Must have a working knowledge of US privacy and cybersecurity law, excellent project management and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment. Professional certifications such as CIPM, CIPP/US, or CIPP/E preferred.
