Our national financial services client has exclusively retained Harris Legal Search to recruit a Corporate Counsel to be based at Seattle-area headquarters.  The Corporate Counsel will work closely with the legal team and other departments throughout the company on a broad range of legal issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements with outside vendors.
  • Assist with contractual disputes should they
  • Evaluate and advise internal stakeholders on legal and business risks associated with commercial agreements, business strategies, and new products or
  • Analyze and advise internal stakeholders on new legislation impacting the Company’s business.
  • Research and advise key stakeholders on a variety of state and federal laws, including those pertaining to consumer finance, privacy, data security, safety, marketing, payment processing, employment, and other areas of law as deemed
  • Draft and revise consumer and commercial loan agreements and corresponding payment
  • Draft, revise, and contribute to policies, procedures, guidelines, and legal manuals relating to legal issues in key business
  • Collaborate and partner with business owners across the company, including compliance, marketing, real estate, product development, retail and online operations, licensing, payments and collections, customer service, and information
  • Respond promptly to legal requests and questions from team members as they
  • Assist in lease negotiations, renewals, and maintenance, including CAMs reconciliation matters.
  • Respond to third-party legal and regulatory processes, including subpoenas and preservation of documents
  • Manage company’s robust intellectual property portfolio and supervise company’s outside counsel.
  • Assist in the maintenance and production of corporate governance documents and processes.
  • Assist in the maintenance and filing of the Company’s business and other licenses, governmental filings, and respond to regulatory requests for data.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working as an attorney.  In-house counsel experience a plus.
  • Member in good standing of the California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, or Washington Bar Association, or eligible for reciprocity.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, effective with both attorneys and non-attorney audiences.
  • Willingness to be involved in all legal aspects of the company.
  • Able to deliver thorough, accurate, and timely work product.
  • Highly organized, self-starter, team player, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Professional and customer-focused.
