Harris Legal Search has been exclusively engaged by Weyerhaeuser to recruit an experienced attorney to support its Enterprise Risk, Ethics, and Compliance program. 

This attorney will oversee the company’s compliance program, ensuring that the company exercises due diligence and sound internal controls to operate with integrity and protect against legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.  The successful candidate will develop and document compliance policies and procedures and maintain, implement, and manage compliance-related training.  The position will report to the VP of Enterprise Risk & Chief Compliance Offer, and work closely with senior management, human resources, and the Manager of Ethics and Business Conduct to investigate and bring resolution to ethics and business conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and monitor key compliance requirements of the company, whether legal and regulatory obligations or industry best practices and guidelines.
  • Develop, design, implement, and communicate internal compliance policies, processes, and programs.
  • Create and conduct compliance training and communications.
  • Evaluate impacts of emerging compliance regulations to business operations.
  • Actively collaborate with and develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships across a broad-range of business and legal clients.
  • Work with human resources and the Manager of Business Ethics to conduct compliance related investigations.
  • Lead cross-functional compliance committee comprised of in-house lawyers and business professionals.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the annual Certificate of Compliance process.
  • Support the Vice President of Enterprise Risk and Chief Compliance Officer in preparing reports to senior management and the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a compliance attorney, including work in-house.
  • Experience in compliance counseling and/or program development across a wide variety of legal issues.
  • True subject matter compliance expert with proven experience working with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.

  • Passionate about compliance, ethics, and business conduct and eager to aid Weyerhaeuser’s efforts to ensure compliance across the enterprise.
  • Team player, with strong integrity, discretion, and a proven ability to partner with employees of all levels.
